Aquarium Filter Media – Activated Carbon Bags, 20 or 40 Pack
Water that has gone yellow, or a tank that smells even when it looks clean, usually means dissolved organics are building up faster than the filter can remove them. This aquarium filter media uses activated carbon in sealed bags to pull out discolouration, odours and the compounds behind them. You drop a bag into the filter or sump, run it for a few weeks, then swap it — and because they come in packs of 20 or 40, you are not ordering a single bag at a time.
Why fish keepers choose it
- ✔ Removes discolouration — clears the yellow tinge from tannins
- ✔ Controls odour — tackles the smell clean-looking water can still have
- ✔ Sealed bags — no loose carbon to rinse out of the filter
- ✔ 20 or 40 packs — enough for a season of changes
- ✔ Fits any filter — drop into a canister, sump or internal chamber

Do you need carbon in your filter?
This aquarium filter media is worth running when you are clearing tannins from new wood, removing medication after treating a fish, or dealing with an odour that water changes alone are not fixing. It is not a replacement for biological filtration, and it should not be run permanently alongside medication, because it will strip the treatment out of the water.
Care
Rinse a new bag briefly in tank water before placing it, then position it where water flows through it. Change it every few weeks, since carbon exhausts quietly and stops working without any visible sign. Store unopened bags somewhere dry, and take the bag out while medicating, then replace it once treatment finishes.
What’s in the box
20 or 40 x aquarium filter media bags, activated carbon in sealed bags.

No. Carbon strips medication out of the water. Take the bag out during treatment and put a fresh one in afterwards.
Every few weeks. Carbon exhausts without any visible change, so it can sit there doing nothing if you forget.
